Where do we teach?
Teaching is carried out in a variety of locations:
-
Schoolrooms on level 2 of the Southwood building (GOSH)
-
Schoolrooms on T11 and T12
-
At the bedside (GOSH, UCLH, MCC, PBT)
- Remotely, via Zoom
The Schoolrooms at GOSH are open plan, vibrant learning environments. They are fully wheelchair accessible, with accessible toilets. In addition, there is a small outside area that includes a sensory garden.
The Schoolrooms at UCLH are found on the paediatric floor (T11) and the adolescent floor (T12). Both schoolrooms are bright, vibrant, safe spaces with excellent resources. They are wheelchair accessible and sufficiently large to accommodate a pupil in a bed.
You can see our school rooms in our Virtual tour.
Bedside
We teach at the bedside in individual cubicles and on open bays and will bring a range of resources to lessons enabling pupils to engage in activities just as they would in a classroom. We use technology to connect pupils across the hospital, providing opportunities for collaboration, sharing and friendship.
Online
Zoom is our preferred platform for online lessons and we also use it for whole-school events such as end of term services and celebrations and for hosting visits from special guests. Zoom can be used for teaching where infection control measures would otherwise prevent us from teaching face-to-face. It may also be used to widen the curriculum offer for pupils in cubicles where numbers of visitors may be restricted.
